Hi, I’m Rebecca.

I am so happy you made it to my site and are thinking about beginning your journey with me! I look forward to getting to know all parts of you. I know taking the first step can be challenging, and as your therapist, I will always seek to support you through those challenges. I specialize in helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate life’s difficulties including: anxiety, depression, trauma and intergenerational trauma, life transitions and stressors, grief and loss, identity and self esteem issues, parenting, and beyond.

Being a part of the helping profession and operating from a social justice lens have always been central to my work and being. I strongly believe in the power of human connection, the mind body connection, and working to heal the inner child (which have also been transformational for me!).

I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which you can safely explore and make sense of your innermost world. It is through the understanding of our innermost world that we begin to recognize and understand patterns that no longer serve us and make small shifts towards rewriting our own stories. I offer a direct and relational strengths-based approach while working to empower all my clients to be kind to themselves throughout the healing process.  Let’s explore how we can work together to begin rewriting your story!

Education and Trainings

Prior to earning my MSW, I worked with children and youth involved in the foster care and juvenile justice systems and later doing gang intervention. I also earned a dual BA in International Relations (with a focus on Peace and Conflict Resolution) and Spanish Studies from the American University in Washington, DC.

While earning my master’s degree, I worked with foster and probation youth, in a variety of different roles including case management, advocacy, and therapeutically. I also wrote and published my master’s thesis on how educational risk impacts recidivism in dually involved (juvenile justice and DCFS involved youth).

Since earning my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Cal State LA in 2017, I worked in a variety of roles as both a therapist and an advocate including working with families impacted by substance use, domestic violence, high conflict divorce, and trauma. I also worked at a community based mental health clinic (Department of Mental Health contracted) for youth and families and in private practice with youth and adults.

I participated in a variety of trainings including EMDR, Play Therapy, Sandplay therapy, trauma informed care, DBT skills, eating disorders, Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP) and more.

I am currently participating in the New Center for Psychoanalysis two year Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program.

My Approach

I utilize my diverse skillset and background to assist with developing a strategy and plan that will meet your needs.  I utilize a blend of psychodynamic, trauma informed care, mindfulness DBT, CBT, art therapy, and play therapy. I have attended dream analysis and sandplay therapy seminars which enhance and enrich my work. I also utilize EMDR to help process trauma. Through my diverse work experience I have worked with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced complex traumas, life transitions, grief and loss, substance use issues, parenting issues, relationship issues, identity questions, anxiety, and depression.

Rates

I have a standard fee that we can discuss during our phone consultation or in person. I believe good quality therapy should be accessible to all, thus I offer a sliding scale. Please contact me for more information. I do not take insurance at this time, however I can provide you with a superbill to provide to your insurance for reimbursement.
